Active Response

The world of people who have profound learning disabilities is often a confusing and threatening place, over which they have no control. Frequently their entire lives are controlled by others and their activities are selected by others.

An obvious example of this is a person being seated in front of a television set for hours at a time, a pursuit which is totally meaningless and boring if you are unable to interpret either the language or the images before you. Yet everybody needs meaningful stimulation and society has an obligation to provide this for
everyone at an appropriate level.
